WIAW - Spring is coming and my goals for the season...

A new season has begun and for all you Northerners you are coming into Autumn. Which means my favourite bloggers will start assulting me with yummy pumpkin recipes and making me cry because Aussies don't celebrate Halloween or Thanksgiving :(

But unlucky for you guys - I am looking forward to Spring and watching all the flowers come out and the weather warm as we get closer and closer to Summer! Muhahaha!

Our peach tree has got the most beautiful blossoms <3
For WIAW today I thought I would participate in the Theme for this month which is "Fall Spring into healthy habits".

But first, let me share in my eats for today (or yesterday if we are going to start getting technical. Big Thanks for the lovely Jen @ Peas and Crayons for hosting this super fun party :)

I started my morning with my new workout routine. It was a strength circuit and my body is still feeling the burn.

I refueled with a pretty awesome breakfast by poaching a few eggs in half a can of crushed tomatoes and topped with a crumbled toasted tortilla and some basil. Of course I couldn't start my day without the necessary coffee with almond milk :)

I have also been experimenting with creamy delicious protein smoothies everyday. Today's smoothie contains 1/2 cup cottage cheese, scoop of chocolate protein powder, a few chocolate chips, a tray of icecubes, half a teaspoon of xanthan gum and a dash of water.

Lunch was pretty awesome too. I recently bought some of that SlimPasta spaghetti which is known as shiritaki noodles. This product is gaining popularity because it contains virtually no calories, woohoo for me!
I quite liked the SlimPasta spaghetti and served it with a bacon and pea tomato sauce. Very yummy and filling :)

I was pretty beat after a really long day at work, so I just threw together a quick but really yummy chicken and cashew stir-fry - jam packed with veggies of course ;)

Lately I have been having oatmeal for dessert - I think it is because it is warm, creamy and so versatile. I threw some chocolate protein powder and mixed berries in for flavour :)

Now onto my September Goals...
  • Continue eating nourishing, filling and healthy foods focusing on veggies, protein and fibre rich foods.
  • Doing strength workouts five times a week but also keeping in mind not to over push my body!
  • Park 15-20 minutes away from my workplace and walk to and from work at least four days a week
  • I want to organise my flowers, entertainment, boys suits and cake for the wedding by the end of this month!
  • Buy the boy's wedding band :)
Please let me know in the comments your goals or the habits you hope to achieve in the next month!

  5. Hey Emilie, those are some very challenging (not the right word, but can't think of a better one - sorry) goals! Strength training 5 days a week? I do strength training 3 times a week, I'd love to do 5 but I can't seem to find the time and at home I slack off ;) oops.. My goal is about fitness too, I write about it on my WIAW post from this week :) Love, Leanne

  6. That walking goal is such a good idea! I have a walking habit that I posted for this WIAW too. Except, mine does not involve a car at all. Just a college campus! I had a creamy bowl of quinoa flakes this morning. Even though it is still summer, I never get tired of warm food!

    1. Quinoa flakes sound really interesting - our Summer gets really hot so I think I will convert to overnight oats when it warms up a bit here

  7. Good for you! You are working out and eating healthy. That's awesome. Your egg and tortilla breakfast looks delicious and creative. My goal is to go to the gym once this month. ;) With the kids home for the summer, I used it as an excuse not to go to the gym. No excuses now. BTW, it freaks me out that people are heading for summer when summer is ending here. Hard to get my head around. Maybe I should get on a plane. :)

    1. Good luck with your gym goals! I am really self-conscious that I look like a dork so I have given up going to a gym. I have collected so much stuff at home I almost am as well equipped as a gym ;)

  10. I always get really mad when all the American bloggers start writing about Thanksgiving recipes cause we don't celebrate it here either. I love all the recipes though and especially appreciate the pumpkin recipes since they're right in season here too :)
Your smoothie looks fantastic. It's crazy what even a pinch of xanthan gum does to the consistency!

    1. I am in love with xanthan gum! I do love the pumpkin recipes but Australia just doesn't get into the spirit so I don't have access to the ingredients they use in the US.

  17. Love your photography and sorry for the torture you'll have to endure following American and Canadian bloggers haha. But oh well, it's part of being cultured, I guess? It still baffles me that there are opposing seasons on the two parts of the world, embarrasingly enough, I only found this out when I got into the blogworld. I've never been big on geography.. >_<
