Random Sunday Breakfast

This is kinda a random post about a random Sunday.
We (the boy and I) usually go out for Sunday breakfast and we usually go to our fave cafe.
This most recent Sunday was no exception.

Me waiting for breakfast :)
Coffee Frappe
The boy and his lime thickshake
The boy and his 'breakfast' - Steak and Mash Potatoes
Moi and my eggs Benedict with Spinach
Generally, I would be happy to sprout the details of our favourite little hide away but a lady I work with owns this lovely cafe and for some reason I don't want my work peeps to be privvy to all the ins and outs of my life via my lovely little blog.

Let me just say though....
I love this place. I love the atmosphere, I love doing this every Sunday, I love spending quality time with my boy and I love the food!

WIAW - End of September ❤ Stuffed Sweet Spud

Happy WIAW - This week has been awesome but sooo busy! I always thought when I finished university I would have so much free time but between work, wedding planning, blogging and a million other things I rarely have an hour just to chill.

Somehow in my chaotic week I managed to snap some pictures of eats for the day! Woohoo :)

Another huge thanks to Jenn @ Peas and Crayons blog for hosting this awesome WIAW party every single week :)

Breakfast was a bit mish-mash. I am scavaging to the corners of my pantry and fridge to make meals because I am refusing to go shopping until we have depleted the excess supply of food residing in our kitchen. I cooked up some mushrooms and asparagus and then scrambled egg and chived into the pan. Sprinkle some feta on top and a yummy and filling breakfast was served.

Snackaroo 1 - I was lucky to find the time to even make myself a coffee! Work has been so busy lately. I sipped on this coffee for most of the morning so it tided me over to lunch (barely)

Lunch - Oh boy - I was looking forward to this lunch all day! Skinnytaste.com cobb salad. Absolutely amazing and super easy! A combination of so many delicious ingredients - chicken, boiled egg, BACON, crisp iceberg lettuce, tomato and avocado. Not much more I could ask for.

Snackaroo 2 I always keep a stash of popcorn at work for when I get hungry (reused picture - sorry)

Dinner - My favourite boy wasn't home for dinner so I didn't want to go to too much effort. I have been eying off Jenns yummy stuffed sweet potatoes and it was the perfect time to try it. I decided to pan fry some red onion, bacon, mushrooms and some jarred artichoke heart and capsicum. I split open a sweet potato I microwaved for about 10 minutes. Filled it with my pan mix and topped with cottage cheese. My dinner didn't look green enough so I also steamed some broccoli :) This is seriously good!

Dessert - Though the boy couldn't be home for din-din. He did bring home something worshipped in our household. I saw. I adored. I devoured.

So let's summarise and see how I went with the goals I set myself at the start of the month...
  • Continue eating nourishing, filling and healthy foods focusing on veggies, protein and fibre rich foods.
I had a bit of a insane weekend - which may have included McDonalds icecream and an excess of Koreon BBQ but other than that - Hunky Dory! Overall this month has been awesome 'healthy' eating wise. I am really starting to learn what my body needs vs what my body wants which is so awesome!
  • Doing strength workouts five times a week but also keeping in mind not to over push my body!
This month has been rockin' when it comes to workouts. I haven't injured my back. I feel strong and.... I just started P90X. Oh my god. It is sooo hard! But so good :)
  • Park 15-20 minutes away from my workplace and walk to and from work at least four days a weekI have done really well with this habit. I have discovered it actually takes equal or less time for me to park further away from my work and walk the 15-20 minutes than it takes to drive the extra distance and then to actually find a decent park near my work! What a bonus :)
  • I want to organise my flowers, entertainment, boys suits and cake for the wedding by the end of this month!
As I mentioned last week I have ordered my flowers and Josh has organised his grooms fittings for the end of next month. I haven't done anything about the cake - FAIL. 2 outta 3 sorted though.
  • Buy the boy's wedding band :)
Nup still haven't done it, we have found out what his ring size is though - so all we have to do is find what he wants and get the darn thing :)
I actually really enjoyed monthly goal setting - it is kinda like yearly resolutions but more accountable since it is month to month. What do you guys reckon? Should I keep doing it?

Have a lovely Wednesday and join in WIAW if you don't already!

Monday Delights ~ Episode Fourteen ~ Breakfast Club

It is no secret that I have a certain fondness for breakfast.
Be it eggs, bacon, pancakes or oatmeal...
I wake up craving to eat any morsel of breakfast food I can get in my belly!
Really, it's no surprise that my Pinterest is overflowing with droolworthy dishes of breakfast glory.

Please share! What is your favourite breakfast food!

Get to know me ~ Meal Survey

I have this morbid fascination with knowing what people eat. When I saw this fun little meal survey over at My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries I knew I wanted to do it too!

Please feel free to do your own version of this fun little survey and share it on your blog too (remember to leave the link so I can snoop at your favourite foods)

BREAKFAST

1. Favorite cereal as a child?
As a kid, I would much prefer dip-dip eggs (soft boiled eggs with toast soldiers) but if I did have cereal then it would be what we referred to as 'yum yums' which was Sultana Bran with yogurt coated sultanas but after a quick 'google' I don't think it exists anymore :(

2. Coffee or Tea? With milk or without?
Coffee - my one true love ♥ Sorry Josh! Almond milk all the way.

3. The one food you eat most often at breakfast?
Eggs! During winter I would have eggs nearly every single morning! As it warms up and as my workout routine changes I seem to be moving towards protein smoothies. I still love my eggs though - yummy yolky goodness.

LUNCH

1. Sandwiches are generally considered a “lunch food.” If you had to choose between a grilled cheese and a peanut butter and jelly, which would you pick?
Although I really love peanut butter - The peanut butter & jelly thing is more of an American tradition - I found it quite meh. Grilled cheese all the way (can I add pesto too?)

2. You can only put four ingredients in your salad (not including greens); what do you throw in the mix? Additionally, which greens and dressing do you pick?
Only four things? I have been having so much fun with salads lately. I would pick green apple/pear, feta, mixed antipasto and grilled chicken.

3. One food you can’t live without at lunch?
Some sort of protein - If really need it to fuel me through the day. If I had to pick a favourite then it would be grilled chicken but I often swap it up for tofu, beef, legumes etc

DINNER

1. It’s the end of the day. You’re tired, hungry, and your fridge is empty. If a fast food (from a chain) is your only option, where do you go and what do you order?
I'm going to be so naughty and say Hungry Jacks (Burger King for US readers) - Cheesy Bacon Tendercrisps are my guilty pleasure. However whenever I start thinking about going to takeaway I look at this link - totally kills the craving.

2. TV/computer on or off while you’re eating?
The boy and I hardly ever get time to watch TV so we usually do switch it on during dinner and I am usually playing with my iPad #nerdalert

3. The one food you eat most often at dinner?
I hate the thought that I won't get to eat every food in the world before I die so we rarely have the same thing twice. We do, however, have homemade tortilla pizzas quite regularly though (random toppings though)

DESSERT

1. Choose between these two American desserts: cheesecake or apple pie?
Apple pie - Anything with pastry and apple is a winner in my book.

2. Choose between these two foreign desserts: tiramisu (Italy) or flan (Spain)?
Hmmm... Tiramisu is way too creamy for me so I would probably pick flan.

3. Ice cream: cone or cup?
I really love waffle cones but generally I would pick a cup just to choose the healthier option.

WIAW - Sharing and progress on September Goals

Howdy Doo! Before I share my meals for WIAW. I wanted to mention a few things...
  1. Thanks so much for the bundle of kind comments I have received on my new blog design. Yes, I did design it and update it myself (thank goodness I used to work as a web developer!)
  2. Also thanks for all the compliments of my recent photography. I have been trying some new techniques and am loving the results!
Now for a big thanks to Jenn @ Peas and Crayons blog for hosting this awesome WIAW party :)

Breakfast was pretty neat. As always I have my compulsory almond milk coffee. I had leftover steamed sugar snap beans from dinner the night before so I spread hummus on top of a grilled tortilla and then piled it with scrambled eggs (1 whole egg & 1/2 cup of egg whites), a dollop of salsa and my sugar snap beans. OMG delicious. I highly recommend you try this combo with any green veg in your kitchen.

Snackaroo 1 - I munched on a bag of chicken flavoured popcorn whilst at my work desk today. So tasty and just tides me over from breakfast to lunch.

Lunch was my new staple salad. I am so glad I finally tried combining fruit with salad ingredients. I love the sweet crunchiness of the pear with the saltiness of the feta. Absolutely perfect!

Snackaroo 2 was a green apple I sliced with a serving of chocolate P2B (obviously unpictured). This is a really simple and yummy snack.

Dinner was quick and simple. I grilled some steaks, steamed broccoli and made some Sweet Potato Mash (healthify by using Philly Light Cream for Cooking & Chicken Stock instead of milk & butter) I also pan fried an onion, 2 small red capsicum and a handful of sliced mushroom which goes really well with steak.

Dessert over the last few days has been warm creamy chocolate protein oats which I have topped with a small sliced banana and sprinkled with a little cinnamon.

So how am I going with the goals I set myself at the start of the month...

  • Continue eating nourishing, filling and healthy foods focusing on veggies, protein and fibre rich foods.
Success but I did have takeout 1 night this week but I really try not to worry over 1 indulgent (or naughty) meal. I find once I start forbidding foods I want my subconscious goes out of it's way to break the rules :)
  • Doing strength workouts five times a week but also keeping in mind not to over push my body!
Yup I did 5 again this week and mixed a bit of cardio in for 3 of these days... However I am feeling a bit 'bad' achy over the last few days so I am trying to take it a bit easy until my body has recovered.
  • Park 15-20 minutes away from my workplace and walk to and from work at least four days a week
Yup I have been doing this. I really enjoy the quick walk to and from work - I pop my earphones in and listen to my 'Game of Thrones' Audiobook <--- AMAZING NOVELS
  • I want to organise my flowers, entertainment, boys suits and cake for the wedding by the end of this month!
I have ordered my flowers! Josh has organised his grooms fittings for the end of next month and I have done nothing about organising the cake yet - 1 more week!
  • Buy the boy's wedding band :)
    Not yet....
I also wanted to share some pics of my little fam (the boy, Milly and I) We were mucking around one afternoon and the light was perfect! I feel like I don't share enough personal pictures so here you go!

PS... How freakin' adorable does Josh look in this pic? Nawwww....

Monday Delights - Episode Thirteen - Cute Hairstyles

I have had short hair since I was seven. I think I have always had it short for a few key reasons - just to be different, it can be styled/cut in so many ways and it is easy to maintain.

With my upcoming nuptials ever since our engagement last year - I have been letting my hair grow and it is longer than I can ever remember having it!

I have been so obsessed with cute hair ideas lately because now my hair is long enough to try them. Here are a few of my faves!

Blossoming into Spring

One evening, not too long ago, I took a stroll through our garden to appreciate nature in its' finest. I ended up snapping a few photos of cute flowers, my much loved herb garden and our blossoming fruit trees.

I am in love with PicMonkey to use for adding a bit of somethin' somethin' to my photos.

In case your curious, the only post processing I did to these photos was to add the Tranquil effect which gives such a pretty dreamy style to the photo (in my opinion).
