What I Ate Wednesdays - Upping my protein and donating my blood

This morning I ducked out of work to do my regular blood donation. I am a big advocate of blood donation and I just thought I might share some of my thoughts on the matter.

I can't think of an easier or more meaningful way to help someone.
Although I know where blood donations are used, I never really sat and thought about the fact that my blood is going to go to help a sick child, somebody with cancer, a car crash victim or someone else who is truly in need.

A physical part of myself is going to aid in keeping the life of another person.
How special and meaningful is that!

If you have never or don't regularly donate blood, you should really consider it.
It is really easy, doesn't take very long and your one donation can help save the lives of up to 3 different people!

Anyway, I thought I would share this little part of my day and hopefully get you thinking. But without further ado, onto WIAW!

If you haven't heard of WIAW then run over to Peas and Crayons and join in the fun!
This week I have been trying to up my protein and veges.

For me, eating these foods makes me feel more satisfied during the day and I don't give into my chocolate cravings so much.

Today's eats were awesome. I found a new scrambled egg combination and I made a delicious Korma for dinner. Also the boy was so kind to make me my favourite after dinner treat. One of his perfect cappuccinos!

  1. Isn't there something just so satisfying about coleslaw? I find it odd that something so simple could be one of my favorite foods, but mmm, is it good!

  4. Hi Emilie, Your dinner looks delicious and what a nice cappuccino. Good for you for donating your blood that is an awesome gift. My husband has done it in the past a few times. They love his blood as he is a universal donor. Me on the other hand havent been able to give blood due to anemia, pregnancy and nursing babies. However, I am VERY thankful to people like you who do!

  8. Hey Emilie,
I think it's so great that you shared about donating blood. I try to do it on a regular basis as well. I think some times people for get why exactly donating is important. I used to have a horrible fear of needles and all I needed to get over them was just knowing whoever my blood was going to help is feeling much worse pain and that it's the least I could do.
I'm not really sure what korma is, but it looks good =)
