February Photo-A-Day - Day 5 - 10am and Sunday Food Delights

Luckily this morning I woke early (rare on a Sunday) and thought I would get my grocery shopping done before Josh woke up, so at about 10am I was wandering down the supermarket aisles, stocking up on food for the week and taking advantage of sales, hence 4 bottles of Coke Zero.

When I got home, Josh was just getting out of bed. He was assigned to make the coffees and I cooked up some brunch. Since it was about midday by the time I unpacked the groceries and finished cooking I was absolutely starving!

Poached egg with tomato, mushroom, rocket, baby spinach and hommus on grainy toast. This totally hit the spot.
My mission for dinner was to tackle a recipe in Jamie's 30 Minute Meals. I love the show and I bought the book last year, but I have never made anything out of it. So I decided to have a go and see how I went.

I gathered the ingredients and got my equipment ready as the book told me to do.
I was ready to make his Piri Piri Chicken, Dressed Potatoes, Rocket Salad and Quick Portuguese Tarts.

I did NOT take 30 minutes to do all of this. I probably took around 2 hours! I had way to many things on the go at once. Dessert in the oven, chicken frying and trying to prepare the Piri Piri sauce etc. It was way to much for my skill set.

However the end result turned out quite nicely if I do say so myself.

Piri Piri Chicken

My serving of dinner, piri piri chicken, rocket salad and dressed potatoes.

Quick Portuguese Tarts
The Portuguese tarts are absolutely to DIE for! Beautiful vanilla custard with a zing of orange and yummy orange caramel. I could have eaten all of them!
